Welcome to the 3IG Sweater KAL! Today is the official kick-off, and I know that some participants have already started their sweaters. Others of us have to finish a few other projects first, and I know a handful of people are still waiting for yarn. Don’t worry – we won’t leave you behind!
I must admit that I am one of the people who has another project to finish first. I am working on a shawl for my wedding in October, and while I had hoped to finish that by now it obviously hasn’t happened. I’ll be working away on that for now, although I will take a few breaks to get started on my sweater.
To kick off the KAL, I thought it would be fun to see what everyone is working on.
I’ll be working on a cardigan using Elenya Alpaca in the Fitzgerald colorway, with coordinating Spruce trim.

I have actually had this yarn for quite some time now, but I haven’t been able to decide what to do with it. I have finally settled on a cardigan – probably with a zipper, probably with no hood, most likely with corrugated ribbing at the hem and possibly with stripes.

As I hate purling, I’m seriously considering knitting in the round and trying out steeking for the first time. Hopefully I can avoid too much pooling given the large diameter of an adult sweater… but I’ll need to do some more swatching to be sure. The above swatch was knit back-and-forth and it is just lovely.

Isn’t it lovely?
So – KALers – what are you knitting? What yarn base and colorway did you choose? Are you trying any new techniques?

Yeah sweater KAL! I’m working on Daisy Cardigan (by Marie Grace Smith) in Elenya Alpaca, Rhiannon with teal accent. This is my first knitted sweater so the whole thing is a new experience to me:)

I’ll second the “Yeah” for this 3IG sweater KAL! I’m making the Knitting Pure and Simple-Children’s Neck Down Bolero for my 2 year old daughter in 3IG Lindon Merino, Rory colorway. It’s my first sweater and who better to KAL than with the great ladies on the 3IG Ravelry group!
Thanks for hosting the KAL Abigail!

I’m working on the little cabled hoodie by Chrissy Gardiner for the KAL. My yarn is springvale in a custom colorway that’s teal, purple, and pink. It’s for my 3yo dd. It’s not my first sweater, but it will be the first time I have to put in a zipper!

YEAH for the Sweater KAL!!! I’m working on Daisy Cardigan (by Marie Grace Smith) in Carys BFL, Fiona with a crimson accent. I have started another little sweater, but I haven’t finished it so hopefully this is my first FINISHED sweater. Once I’ve mastered a kids sweater I hope to try one for me (in a different colorway of course).
This sweater is for my BFF’s little daughter!
Thanks for hosting Abigail!!

Hi there,
I need some simple patterns of Irish sweaters for a gift to a 7 year old girl that is not well off and I would like to knit this for her as a gift.
she is from Mexico City and it gets very cold down there in winter.
If you can send me a pattern with and one with out the cap I would highly appreciate it.
This is a gift, I am very interested in learning more about irish knitting.
I lived in Switzerland and got a big idea of all this but the Irish is my favorite and I need some pattern to follow so it is perfect.
Please help me this is for a very good cause. It is a donation that I want to do with my hands, then I will make some scarves for the City dump children that are cold in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, where I live.
If you can help me I will appreciate it very much. As soon as things get better I will buy the magazines or books to have them for my self.
May God bless you.
Marisa Bridge.
